Dr. Thomas Tilton

Dr. Thomas Tilton, PT, DPT, SFMA, USAW, Director of Athletic Performance

Dr. Thomas Tilton grew up in Islip, New York and graduated from Islip High School. Tom attended Sacred Heart University, where he played football while earning his bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science. He then went on to attend Sacred Heart University’s Doctorate of Physical Therapy Program, where he graduated in 2013 with his Doctorate in Physical Therapy. While at Sacred Heart, Tom was selected to perform his clinical affiliation with the San Francisco Giants.

Throughout this clinical, he received extensive training in working with sports-related injuries with multiple Major League Baseball players under the instruction of San Francisco Giants’ head physical therapist, Tony Reale.

Among Dr. Tilton’s other clinical experience, he was selected to participate in a clinical at the renowned NYU Cardiac Rehab Center and St. Charles’ Hospital’s Orthopedic Rehab floor. As a therapist, Dr. Tilton emphasizes the research and use of the latest evidence-based practice in conjunction with manual therapy to help his patients achieve their goals.

His clinical interests include the shoulder girdle, low back, knees and sports-related injuries including return to play protocols. Outside of physical therapy, Dr. Tilton coaches Varsity football at Islip High School and serves as the high school’s Strength and Conditioning Coach. Dr. Tilton also actively participates as a volunteer at Islip Little League. He currently holds certification from USA weightlifting and SFMA and is actively working to obtain his Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist license.
