Dr. Darek Candelore was born and raised in New Jersey. Darek attended the University of Rhode Island and played on the club rugby team which in turn led him to discovering Physical Therapy, via injury. Darek graduated from The University of Rhode Island with a BS in Kinesiology: Exercise Science with honors.

Dr. Candelore graduated with honors from Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, CT with a Doctorate Degree in Physical Therapy. He had several responsibilities while undergoing school including working for the Sacred Heart Graduate Admissions Office as well as serving as the Secretary for the Student Physical Therapy Association for Sacred Heart. While at Sacred Heart, Darek had the opportunity to learn from and work with professors/mentors such as Pamela Levangie, DPT, DSc, FAPTA, Michelle Lusardi, PT, DPT, PhD, Kevin Chui, PT, DPT, GCS, OCS, FAAOMPT, Gary Austin, PT, PhD, OCS, FAAOMPT, FAFS and Thomas Denninger DPT, CSCS. The values and work ethic instilled in Darek from Sacred Heart’s ‘Problem Based Learning’ program have forged a lifelong dedication to keeping current with the latest information as well as a desire to teach Physical Therapy practice in an academic and/or clinical setting.

Dr. Candelore has primarily worked in outpatient orthopaedic settings and his interests include treating injured athletes or patients with low back, knee, hip or shoulder pain. Dr. Candelore has other professional interests which include pain-science/neuroscience relating to a clinical/orthopaedic setting. Darek also holds certifications including SFMA and from USA Weightlifting.
