The Mom Wrist

Relief for New Moms & Expecting Mothers
If you’re pregnant or recently welcomed a baby and you’re dealing with wrist or hand pain, you’re not imagining it—and you’re definitely not alone. The Mom Wrist is a common issue new and expecting moms experience due to repetitive lifting, feeding positions, and hormonal changes. The good news? You don’t have to push through it.
Our Certified Hand Therapists and Occupational Therapists at ProCare Occupational Therapy specialize in treating wrist and hand conditions related to pregnancy and postpartum life—so you can take care of yourself while caring for others.
Do You Have These Symptoms?
Many moms experience one or more of the following:
- Wrist or thumb pain
- Swelling in the hands or wrists
- Numbness or tingling
- Weakness or difficulty gripping
- Clicking or locking fingers
These symptoms are often linked to common conditions that respond extremely well to hand therapy.

Common Conditions We Treat
De Quervain’s Tenosynovitis (New Mom Syndrome)
Inflammation of the tendon sheath between the thumb and wrist, often caused by repetitive lifting and holding your baby. This can make everyday movements painful and frustrating.
Trigger Finger
A condition that causes catching, clicking, or locking of a finger when bending or straightening it. Inflammation thickens the tendon sheath, making smooth movement difficult.
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Compression of the median nerve at the wrist, leading to numbness, tingling, pain, and weakness—especially in the thumb, index, and middle fingers.
Cubital Tunnel Syndrome
Compression of the ulnar nerve at the elbow, affecting sensation and movement in the ring and little fingers.
